100 Posts, Miami Mike, and John Stamos

Thanks to all our recent postings on the wacky world of major league baseball, we've just gone over 100 posts here at herohill (you're reading 102, can you feel the excitement?). Not a huge number, but a milestone nonetheless, so I thought it deserved mentioning. We're still going strong here at the hill, and with the help of new contributors we should be at 200 posts in no time. So keep checking for that fresh new herohill content.

Speaking of new contributors, I thought I'd take a moment to formally welcome Mike to the herohill collective. The man known throughout Fairview as DJ Miami Mike is a lifelong Halifax, NS, resident, and goes way back with all of us here at herohill. But don't think that's the only reason he's been brought on board. His many comments over the last little while showed us he's got an opinion that needs to be heard, so you shall hear him. No one I know has more knowledge about Rock & Roll history and Mike has a detailed mind for the sports as evidenced by his Expos post. He also enjoys the US politics, so perhaps posts on the US election will be forthcoming.

There is one other thing I should mention, Mike is also the president and only member of the Halifax chapter of the John Stamos fanclub. He made his own shirt, that's how down with the Stamos he is. But this reminded me of something I've been meaning to do for some time now. I finally have proof to settle a long running bet with Mike and another member of the Herohill posse, Mario. Everyone knows John Stamos from his role as the beloved Uncle Jesse on Full House. Everyone also knows is that his full name on the show was Jesse Katsopolis. What most don't know is that at the beginning of the show Uncle Jesse's last name was Cochran. I have been derided for years by Mike and Mario for insisting this was true. But now the wonders of the internet have given me the proof I couldn't acquire on my own. The Full House page on IMDB states it for everyone to see:

John Stamos .... Hermes 'Jesse' Katsopolis (Cochran, in first season only)

There it is my friends, I win. Finally I've been vindicated. As soon as I remember what it is we bet, you'll be paying up.

Thanks for welcoming me - I'm happy to be part of the team. OK...you win. I was going to protest your findings until I went to that site and checked it out for myself. Those dudes are pretty big Full House fans - they even have a message board where they discuss the show. If anybody would know, it would be those die hards. Me, I wasn't that big a fan of the show, just a fan of Stamos. I liked him even before Full House when he was on a mid 80's sitcom called "You Again" staring Jack Klugman. Hey, maybe those people on that message board can let us know if the Alanis Morissette song "You Oughta Know" is really about Dave Coulier or not.

So, I stand corrected. At least the writers knew that the show would not succeed with 3 white dads (One geek-Bob Sagat and a rip-off of the sound effects guy from police academy movies...Michael Winslow) Introducing a Greek caracter helped build the show into the success it was. It helped make the Olsen Twins in celebs now, and let Canadce Cameron marry Valeri Bure.
So, I was wrong about this. At least I moowalked down an icy hill for 15 minutes in the middle of a snowstorm. That feat will never be taken away from me!
