R. Kelly is the new Michael Jackson

R. Kelly is slowly buggin' out. He's suing Jay-Z for booting him off their "Best of Both Worlds" tour after some ruckus at a Madison Square Garden show. Apparently R. Kelly, for some insane reason, thought he saw people in the crowd waving guns around, so he walked off stage. Yeah, that doesn't sound crazy at all, these days people are always waving guns around at rap concerts without anyone else noticing. Later as he tried to come back, a member of Jay's posse tried to insure his vision was clearer by giving him a pepper spray eye bath. So Jay-Z kicked him off the tour for erratic behavior.

If you've watched basketball in the last 5 years or so, you've heard people ask "who's the next Michael Jordan?" "Is Vince the next Jordan?", "Is Kobe the next Jordan?" But you don't hear much of that in the music biz. Well let me start the trend, I think R. Kelly is the next Michael Jackson. I don't mean in terms of record sales, musical talent or anything like that, I'm talking strictly in terms of nuttiness. This latest row with Jay-Z is only the latest episode in R. Kelly's emerging wackiness.

He's taken to wearing these bizarre Lone Ranger masks and has recently said he loves Africa so much he tried to make his studio look like it. He really gets an African vibe going "I put tents in the studio and slept in the tents for like a few months, eating off the floors, dressed in army fatigues..." Or is it Africa? "I know people out there might laugh, but we are in the jungle. We're on a serious mission, and just know that Charlie is out there to stop us, and you have to load up your guns. I know this all sounds crazy..." Oh yes R., it does sound crazy, but that's my point. Also crazy is that he mentions Charlie, which I believe is a Vietnam reference. Got his jungles mixed up there I guess. There is also the issue of his ongoing legal troubles with child pornography, which also enhances the Michael comparisons.

So Kels is clearly on his way to taking over the throne of wacky behavior from the gloved one. Like Michael, R. Kelly clearly has no one in his entourage giving him any kind of good advice, so he'll be free to continue making horrible decisions for years to come.
