In Flight Safety

It's time to give some Halifax love. That is where the Hill started. The Halifax community has produced some great musicians. Sloan, Thrush Hermit, Plaskett, Camoflage Nights. Basically all the bands that replaced Keith Sweat on Shane's make out tape.

In Flight Safety is a new band taking off out of Halifax. They are starting to get some press, so we thought we'd help them out. Quite simply, IFS are a piano and guitar led rock band that makes you remember why Coldplay was so good back in the day – which by the way, was a Wednesday. It's not fair to throw these guys in the generic "sounds like the next" category, as they are writing great music, but it at least gives you an idea of what you get.

Coldplay's first two releases were pretty rock solid, then Mrs. Paltrow started trying to look like that dude from Life is Beautiful and covering his hands in more jewelry and colored tape than a gypsy. More importantly, their songs fell the f*$k off. Where they stop, In Flight Safety starts.

They just released their debut full length album, The Coast is Clear, on Dead Daisy records. It's surprisingly polished and incredibly addictive, especially if you are a sucker for piano, pop hooks, and glockenspiel.

Check out a preview of the album tracks on CBC Radio

Here are some tour dates for anyone who wants to check out this great Haligonian outfit.
