Friday:: Tour Dates and MP3s

It's Friday and I'm sure everyone who reads this blog knows that Belle and Sebastian are in town tonight playing a sold-out show at the Commodore. Cat Power was supposed to be on the bill, but for reasons undisclosed at this time she is not playing any of her dates.

Here are some other great shows hitting the Vancouver area in the near future:
Tues MAR 28th WE ARE SCIENTIST - RED ROOM
Moustaches and catchy hooks. I'm not sure you can ask for more. If you are tired of hearing soft, folky influenced shows where nobody moves and nobody gets hurt, check these guys out.
M3U:: Nobody moves, nobody gets hurt

Thurs Apr 6th JOHN VANDERSLICE- MEDIA CLUB 16.25
Singer songwriter and producer extraordinaire. JVS uses some of the most simplistic sounds to attack your ears. Plus Continuation off of his Cellar Door release is one of the best songs about serial killers going
MP3:: Pale Horse

Fri Apr 7th MATT COSTA- RICHARDS ON RICHARDS
Acosutic, surfer friendly sing-alongs from Brushfire Records latest signee.
MP3:: Sunshine (Demo)

SAT Apr 22nd JOSH ROUSE - RED ROOM
Josh Rouse is touring to support his new album, Subtitulo release. After leaving Nashville to live in Spain, Josh has created a beautiful, optimistic record heavily influenced by his new home.
QT: Quiet Town

Fri Apr 28th DEATHCAB FOR CUTIE/FRANZ FERDINAND - PACIFIC COL. 53.00
Have you heard of either of these bands? Me neither!
Death Cab MP3 page

Wed May 24th NEW AMSTERDAMS - RICHARDS 16.25
Matt Pryor can almost do no wrong in herohill's eyes. The New Ams just released Story Like A Scar. The songs are like a gateway to living in small town USA. Rich in layers and instruments, this should be a great show.
MP3:: Turn out the Lights

Thurs June 8th MOUNTAIN GOATS - RICHARDS 23.00
John Darnielle is the Indie Jenna Jamseon. Seems to be writing a new album every three days. Ok, that might be a slight exager-ay-tion, but his discography is crazy. He's not afraid of recording and releasing great songs, faster than almost anyone else in the biz. He writes songs that are so good they can be recorded on a shitty four-track and you still listen to them 6 years later. His newest albums are produced by JVS and are finally starting to get him the credit he deserves. But for fun, I have linked to an old, live track.
MP3:: Jam Eater Blues
