Snow Patrol

Snow Patrol is a weird situation for me. Songwriter Gary Lightbody has been around for what seems forever. I loved his othe band, The Reindeer Section. The songs were depressingly beautiful and so well produced. When I first grabbed a hold of Snow Patrol I kind of missed his more mellow, depressing side.

That changed when I listened to Final Straw. It is a great pop record, as the radio play and increase fanbase clearly indicates.

Well now they are releasing their first record after the buzz hit. It's called Eyes Open, and it hits this side of the pond on May 9th.

Here's the track list:

1. You’re All I Have
2. Hands Open
3. Chasing Cars
4. Shut Your Eyes
5. Beginning To Get To Me
6. You Could Be Happy
7. Make This Go On Forever
8. Set The Fire To The Third Bar featuring Martha Wainwright
9. Headlights
10. Open Your Eyes
11. Finish Line

And you can preview 5 songs from the new album.

The single Hands Open is waaaaaay more upbeat and electric than what I'm used to from the band, but Gary is not one to get stuck in one creative style. They are here in Vancouver on June 14th at the lovely Commodore Ballroom.
