Vancouver concerts

The next 10 days are going to be hot in Vansterdam. Vancouver always seems to get good shows in spurts, so here is another big ass batch:
Sat June 10th THE WALKMEN - RICHARDS 23.00
MP3:: NPR's broadcast of the DC show

Sat June 10th EAGLES OF DEATH METAL - COMMODORE 33.50
Everyone's guilty pleasure.
Live:: Live on Letterman

Mon June 12th THE FIERY FURNACES - RICHARDS 25.00
Eleanor and Matt are not really my cup-of-tea, but they are big for a lot of people that read this blog.
MP3:: Tropical Ice-Land - acoustic

Wed June 14th SNOW PATROL - COMMODORE sold out
We aren't afraid to fly our Snow Patrol flag. Check out our interview with keyboardist Tom Simpson - here.

Thurs June 15th FUTUREHEADS - COMMODORE 25.00
Did you ever like XTC? Well, more or less, you like the Futureheads. They're on Vagrant now and are touring to support the new release - News and Tributes.
MP3:: Skip to the End

Tues June 20th JOSE GONZALES/JUANA MOLINA - RICHARDS 23.00
Herohill's favorite Argentina-born, Swede living, English singing, finger picking artist... without a doubt.
Video:: Stay in the Shade

Tues June 20th CALEXICO - COMMODORE 37.00
I've never really been a huge fan of Calexico. I thnk doing a split with Sam Beam helped them gain a lot of fans, which is cool, but it still doesn't make them someone I'd pay 37 dosh for without a good supporting act. On a side note, I think they should name an album "Burress", so it read Calexico Burress. Make the album, 6'6" tall, suspect hands, give it a terrible corn-row mullet and a huge neck... er, maybe not I guess.

The reason this show will be good is that Crooked Fingers front-man, Eric Bachman. They are putting out a new album, so I would imagine the set will be littered with new material. I love the Dignity & Shame album, play it all the time and constantly defend it.
MP3:: New drink for an old drunk
