Reviews:: Introducing The Spares

Wow. What a pleasant find this Chicago duo is. The Spares - Jodee Lewis and Steve Hendershot - play rootsy music that should warm the heart of any Allison Krause fan. I've yet to hear the full record, so I won't gush too much, but I've fallen in love with the finger picking style and Jodee's lovely voice. I've been playing the MP3s on repeat while I enjoy my coffee this morning.

The new record - Beautiful and Treacherous Thing - is out now. I sense it's going to be one that gets a lot of play here at herohill HQ.

MP3:: you and the moon
This song starts out so slowly, letting Jodee's voice take the lead, but the duo builds it into a rollicking number, with a nice, subtle electric guitar and some terrific harmonies.
