Between the covers:: The Killers vs Dire Straits

Well, yesterday was my one-year anniversary - aka the Paper year - and the overarching theme of the day was people telling me my wife is slumming by staying with me, and I should be very happy she hasn't realized that yet. Whether or not that is true (which it is), we've had a great first year. Traveling to Vietnam for our honeymoon started it all.

So in tribute to our great year, I've added a song I love, featured in a movie she likes, covered by a band she likes. Happy anniversary Nic :)

MP3:: Romeo and Juliet - Dire Straits
I am not sure why I love this song song much, but I do. It's catchy and my buddy Jeff Urq used to play it a lot whenever the guitars came out. So for the six degrees aspect, it was used in Empire Records, a movie Nic loves.

MP3:: Romeo and Juliet - The Killers
Not even Brandon Flower's mustache could ruin this song. The band played this for the Abbey Rd. session, and kept it sincere - which is good.

At 5:36 PM, Blogger Ryan of the RSL blog did sayeth:

Not the biggest fan of either band (I do have the original version) but just wanted to say that with both versions and the videos - this is a really good, complete blog post. Nice work!
