Unsigned madness:: Postcards

Well, when the band is as talented as the Postcards, you jump on the chance to point people their way. I've only heard four songs from the band, but they are all incredibly enjoyable. The Postcards seem to live in a world of beautiful, stripped down melodies that float around in a dream like haze. If that doesn't intrigue you, I'm not sure what will.
The Montreal based band is fixing to record a physical release, and one listen to the demo version of Because I Miss You should be enough for you to cash in your emusic credits the minute they do. The simple banged out piano line keeps time while Dmitri's vocals drift around the emptiness of the track. The clacking percussion is just on the verge of being out of time, but grabs your ear at just the right times.
Over the course of the four songs, the overall dreamy haze is consistent, but they show a surprising amount of diversity. You Won't Say is a denser, using a jangled guitar and double tracked vocals whereas Sunshine jumps into rootsy saunter. The songs are, for lack of a better word, peepy and the nice groove they routinely stumble into is nothing short of blissful. They don't really express any of the melancholic undertones bands in this genre seem to rely on. These guys are definitely one to keep your eye on.
