Canadian Mixtape Project:: Give Us Our Nickel Back (Ontario)
Back again, it's the sequel. This time around we are delivering an extra padded collection of tracks from some of the great Ontario bands (25 songs instead of 20). We tried to keep it a bit more provincial based, not just Toronto-centric so we added some acts from Ottawa, the Peter-patch and the Hammer. As always, we added mostly smaller acts that deserve to be heard or bands we really think are ready to explode. I'm pretty sure that the Constantines, Feist, Hayden or the Tokyo Police Club don't really need a few more hits from our
There were a few notable acts we would have loved to include - Nathan Lawr, Cuff the Duke for example - but we'd already given them a lot of press on the hill and really tried to focus on some bands that we've been meaning to feature but just haven't found the time. There were also a couple of TO bands that just missed the cut, but we wanted to make sure we got a broad stroke of the land of the Common Loon.
Anyway, without further ado, here's Ontario - Give Us Our Nickel Back. For any non-Canadian readers, we actually do have a huge statue of a nickel in Sudbury. What can we say, we love weird, big ass statues. Originally I was going to photoshop the nickel to have a terrible goatee and a mullet... but the time needed to disgrace the nickel by making it look like Kroeger was too much to be bothered.

Man, did you guys ever miss the mark. For Ontaro you gotta ahve Maestro Fresh Wes, what about Devon with his hit "Mr.Metro". All I gotta say is when you do Quebec Mitsou and Le Boyfriend better be there...
Mario
haha, believe me, I have looked for Mr. Metro plenty of times, never found it.
Love the mixtape idea. Really, really great. You missed out on the Sunparlour Players and Ohbijou - both great Toronto bands. Probably two of my favourite acts around right now.
If B.C. is next, maybe Bend Sinister or The Manvils? Definitely, Dan Mangan, who I think you appreciate already.
