News:: KRS-One Headlines Busy Friday In Halifax

KRS-One. In Halifax. At The Marquee. This Friday. Just my opinion, but those should really be all the sentence fragments you need. Seriously, the blastmaster here in Halifax, that is really quite amazing. We've talked about KRS quite a few times here n the hill, so it's no surprise that the Ack and I are both big Blastmaster fans. I've been meaning to post on this for a while, and I was planning all kinds of grandiose posts to capture what a big deal this is, but nothing seemed right. But I couldn't let the show go by without posting something. Pretty simple in the end: be there. I plan to.

Have I mentioned the Halifax music scene seems to be doing quite well? Perhaps I have at some point recently. Anyway, it seems nights like this Friday, with multiple solid shows, are happening with regularity. Not only will KRS be schooling the assembled at the Marquee, but west coast faves Immaculate Machine are headlining a solid show at the Seahorse, which also features super solid local acts The Superfantastics and Dog Day. I've discussed both of these bands at length here on the hill, and I've heard good things about Immaculate Machine, so this should be a quality evening. I plan to drop by this show before hitting KRS, will that raise the quality level? Likely not.

But the fun doesn't end there. For those on the hunt for a more folky/jazzy evening, Don Brownrigg and Erin Costelo are also performing at Ginger's on Friday night. Apparently both will be doing some solo songs as well as performing with a full band. If you caught my review for Brownrigg's debut, Wander Songs, you know that I was very impressed by it, and Erin Costelo is one of the more unique performers you'll find in Halifax, so I'm thinking this will also be a very good show.

So take your pick Parker Lewis, this Friday night in Halifax, you can't lose.

I don't know about the sky, but the limit is certainly over 50, which you'd have to be to enjoy either of those shows.

Hi-O!!!

Maybe Frampton can use that thing on his guitar to make it talk about jazz, Jello pudding, kodak film and Coke. Make a show - guitars say the darndest thing.
