Quick-hitters:: The Wet Secrets

Well good work, Chauncey. You got it bang on. Anyway, The Wet Secrets aren't even really a band, more of a morphing entity comprised of Trevor Anderson (The Vertical Struts), Lyle Bell (Shout Out Out Out Outs) and members of other bands and a general sense of nonsensicalness. With song titles like "Grow Your Own F*cking Moustache, Asshole", "I Teabagged Myself" and "Hep A Birthday" you might think this project is a throwaway.
Instead, the sweaty mess of keys, horns, bass, and percussion is simply something you have to hear. Secret March - recently fingered up Rollie (see how I tied Cadence Weapon and Rollie Fingers into the moustache theme?) - is enough to make me wonder if I'm missing out by dismissing most synth rock out of hand. The plastic keys, shouted vocals and crashing cymbals really make you move, and the fact they wrote the songs in like two weeks really keeps the rough edge and energy high. They have a new record out in May, which should be arriving on my doorstep soon, so I'll give you more of my thoughts then. For now, grow a 'stache and get ready for the weekend.
