Contests:: Free Jose Gonzalez tickets

Halifax has been getting some terrific artists lately. Sure, we get some great homegrown talent playing the smaller intimate venues, but now we are attracting some big name bands. Bloc Party, Wolf Parade? Check. And now we have Jose Gonzalez playing a venue tailor made for his style.

On June 26th, with herohill fav Rebekah Higgs in tow, he's going to be finger picking and power chording his way through a breath taking set at St. Matthew's church. I can't think of a better place to hear him play. Instead of trying to hear him over 75 hipsters talking about the new Justice / Kenny Loggins mash-up they made as a joke but that is better than anything you hear in a club, you can sit back and soak in Jose's songs.

So what you ask? Well, herohill is giving away tickets to the show and all you have to do to enter is send us an email or add your info to the comments section. It's just that simple. I've seen him play twice and was blown away both times. If you are new to his work or sitting on the fence about shelling out for the tickets, here's you chance to go.

  • (2) tickets for Tuesday July 1st at the Park Theatre in Winnipeg, MB
  • (6) copies of his latest CD - In Nature

This would be an amazing show to go to, but unfortunately I'm in Vancouver. But we have a great finger-picking folk artist by the name of Dan Mangan. There are some similarities between these two artists.

i'm a HUGE fan of swedish acts and Jose Gonzalez has always impressed me with both his own original tunes but also how his covers are amazingly great!... it's awesome how he can strip down a song and make it so damn intimate. i would love to either win a copy of his album or a ticket for the show in Halifax.

Hi, I think Jose Gonzalez is a wonderful musician - it is bad planning on my part that I did not pre-buy my ticket - for some reason I thought St. Matthews Church only sold tickets at the door - dah
