News:: Hey Jerks, Stop Stealing People's Shit

Musicians aren't the only people being robbed on a regular basis in North America, but it certainly seems that equipment theft is at an all time high right now. If it isn't Buck 65 losing five grand worth of gear in Victoria, it's The Sadies getting their van broken into live on security cam, and now it's Halifax's newest big-timers Wintersleep getting relieved of their equipment in Baton Rouge.

Not cool Louisiana, not cool. I know you are the home of my beloved Saints, but first you take advantage of my sneaker vanity to swindle me out of twenty American dollars during my last trip to New Orleans, and now you rob a band from my hometown whose last album was really rather tremendous. Don't you know Wintersleep's has its roots in Nova Scotia's south shore, just like your renowned Cajuns? Oh well, just get the Saints into the playoffs again and I'll forgive you.

Will Wintersleep forgive you though? I couldn't say, but they're playing New Orleans in October, so you'll have a chance to make it up to them. They're playing an assload of other American cities too this fall, so hopefully our kind American friends will come out in droves and help the guys buy some new guitars.

Aw crap, not Wintersleep too? It's beginning to feel like a rite of passage. If you're a great band, you get your gear lifted.

That's some of the most obvious thefts I ever heard of since Eddie's country pal made out with a girl in your closet then stole from you.

I apologize on behalf of my hometown. But I have to chuckle at the unrelated event of you getting suckered by "Bet I can tell you where you got your shoes" in New Orleans. Don't feel bad, it's a rite of passage. They do that to all new visitors.

Next time you go, bring someone new with you and tell them not to fall for it, but don't tell them why. They won't be able to resist, and then you will be able to point and laugh.

"10 on the line, 10 on the shine!" I fell for that shiz hook line and sinker: "I'm from Canada, he'll never know where I bought these Adidas!"

I was bitter at the time, but it has become one of my favorite stories for sure.

so how does someone lose all their gear. did the roadies leave the trailer or truck unlocked. they were all out getting drunk and someone stole the truck?

For gods sake people. the gear is your life when on the road. how can it be left alone?

im sorry to hear it. why people steal shit is beyond me. losers. especially instruments that a band has grown to love and cherish.

did you know someone stole bono's briefcase with lyrics from october record? just last year, someone gave it back. can you believe that? like they wanted to be come kind of hero for it.
loser.

so, i feel bad, but i dont get how gear gets left vunerable like that.
