Reviews:: Ghost Bees Live @ Gus' Pub

Last Tuesday showed Gus' Pub playing host to another terrific lineup. Katie Stelmanis and Emma McKenna both took the time to entertain the crowd, but for me, the reason for being there was to finally see Ghost Bees perform.
I've been trying to get people to pay attention to the twins from Halifax for a long time, but because of the move from Vancouver, I've actually missed their last three shows (both in Halifax and the Couve) because I was moving.
I was a bit disappointed to see them go on second and promise only a few songs, but we were treated to an unplugged set; one that forced another big Gus' Pub crowd to stop talking and simply pay attention. Despite their diminutive size, their vocals filled the space and throughout the set, I became immersed in the dynamic the twins share and the piercing clarity of their voices is amazing. They trade harmonies seamlessly, effortlessly drift into falsetto and make tracks about stomach wounds, vampires and death of a loved one sound beautiful.

twas a nice show!
Ghost Bees - B- (too short)
Emma McKenna - A- (nice howl)
Katie Stelmanis - C- (not for me)
Love Triangle - C+
Gus Pub Ambience - A+
