Random Aitken fueled nonsense:: The Felice Brothers > Matt Paxton > Auld Lang Syne

Honestly, I am not sure what this post is supposed to be all about. I was sitting around trying to come up with a collection of songs for a buddy (one who was obsessed with Dylan and complains I never send him music - but to be fair, he also has a contraption in his house that lets him use his bike as a chair so he's got some issues) and decided my thought process would be a great way to talk about some bands that wouldn't get much run here on herohill.

I've been listening to the terrific self-titled "debut" from The Felice Brothers a lot lately. The boys from Northern NY are able to embrace the spirit of the Basement Tapes but don't sound like imitators. The stories they tell are captivating and the free flowing affairs warm my heart (which is weird, as I'm not really much of a Dylan fan).

So, I was putting together some of their songs and remembered that Hamilton's Matt Paxton covered The Felice Brothers on a radio show. His take on Her Eyes Dart Around is pretty stellar, and since almost no one knows the original, it was a terrific choice to play. That led me to thinking about the Songs Illinois post that mentioned that NYers Auld Lang Syne could be the new Felice Brothers and since the band just added us on myspace, I thought 50 Years would be a nice way to end this musical journey
