VIDEO HITS:: Mayer Hawthorne, Dog Day, Little Foot Long Foot & Agnostic Mountain Gospel Choir

Mayer for Mayor
It's Thursday afternoon here on the hill, and that means one thing: videos! Well, sometimes it means that, and sometimes it just means that it's not Friday, and that makes us sad. But no sadness today, instead we've got solid clips from Stones Throws indie retro soul phenom Mayer Hawthorne, the first video from Halifax foursome Dog Day's new album, and a clip from bluesy Toronto two-piece Little Foot Long Foot.

I talked about how much I liked Mayer Hawthorne's debut single, Just Ain't Gonna Work Out, late last year, and although I know it's since been on every blog from here to Tahiti, I still love it. So when we were sent the video, I had to post it, if for no other reason than to hear the song again. The video is solid though, it's still puzzling that a dude who looks like that one there is making these kind of songs. I also like Cali space-funk master Dam-Funk scooping the slimie at the end. Great stuff.

Hopefully you caught our epic review for Dog Day's new album, Concentration, last week, because it marked the review debut of herohill-associate MRC. Well, the album is solid, and they group is celebrating it's release tomorrow night at Reflections here in Halifax. So if you're in Halifax, you should go. If you are elsewhere in Canada, you should check the long list of tour dates in on their myspace and find a tour stop to your liking. For now we'll celebrate with their new video for Happiness, which reminds me of something you'd see on The Edge in the 90's. And who doesn't want to be reminded of that.

The Ack talked about bluesy TO two-piece only just this AM, so I won't go into any further detail, other than I like cut of their hipster-dissing jib (what the video below lacks in production values, it makes up for in sarcastic chutzpah, and we can all get behind that.). They're playing four Halifax dates in the next two months, and anyone showing us Haligonians that much love deserves some in return.
