Friday Showstravaganza:: Jon McKiel, Don Brownrigg & Rockin' Out with the kids

Friday's highlight would likely be Jon McKiel at the Co-Gro (what the cool kids call Coconut Grove. Maybe.) with two local up & coming bands, Deerfield and Bend The River (whose Revolt of Angels both the Ack and I enjoyed, and they were solid live during IDOW this year). That's not the only option though, as Friday also offers the country-tinged, bluesy soul of Ottawa outfit Brothers Chaffey at Bearly's, who will have some Gutherie assistance in their band and Kelly Sloan guesting. Saturday the place to be is the excellent Company House for some solid singer-songwriter-based entertainment. The talented Don Brownrigg headlines an evening featuring one Halifax's newest and more buzzworthy residents, Gianna Lauren, and Jon Bryant - who I'm sure is plenty buzzworthy in his own right. If that's not your thing, and you'd prefer to radio rock out with the kids, then The Pavilion for Ten Second Epic, The New Cities and The Februarys is for you.
I should also mention that Obey Convention III is currently underway in town, with a number of interesting acts on tap from Canada and the US, so check their schedule to see what's going down.
