Old School Mondays:: Tone Loc

But Joel mentioning Tone Loc brought to mind something I'd heard a while ago and meant to work into a post. A couple months ago, I was listening to Rich Terfry on Radio 2, when for some reason he was talking about Tone (Tone's birthday perhaps?) and he mentioned a story he heard about Tone having relatives in Truro, Nova Scotia (local readers know of Truro, but for the rest, Truro is a small town an hour or so away from Halifax). Now this is awesome, but is it true? I have no idea, as even the Google knows nothing about it, but I'm going to choose to believe it.
Surely you all know the deal with Tone Loc and these songs: they were written by Young MC and white people over 30 pretty much still "lose their shit" when they are played anywhere that alcohol is being consumed. That's pretty much why I don't own this album, my hip hop zealotry was not to be wooed by Tone's popularity, but I did think he was awesome in Ace Ventura. So that's about it really, other than wishing Tone Loc a speedy recovery, I don't have much else to add. Enjoy. And oh, let's do it.
