Quick Hitters:: The Framework

I can't remember the last act I wrote about that was courting video rotation on MuchMusic (is this even worthwhile, do they show videos on there anymore? Is this joke cliche yet?), but a quick gander at Toronto new wave-y synth act The Framework's myspace suggests that's exactly what they are aiming for. This isn't a bad thing I'd say, because although I have no idea what they currently play on MuchMusic, I'm gonna go ahead and guess it's rather terrible. And the Framework are not terrible.

Granted, they might not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you enjoy hooky, synth-heavy rock & roll, then The Framework and their new album Before Tonight are certainly worth a listen. Of course, with a band like this (i.e. one that people might come across after some series of events that doesn't include receiving a email from a PR firm), the U2 comparisons are inevitable, but I don't think it works here - I don't think stadium rock when I listen to The Framework, more like packed club, sweaty college kids freaking the tight-pantsed funk type rock.

Now that's certainly not my bag (just disregard these size 24 jeans with "That kind of thing certainly is my bag" embroidered on them that I'm sporting today), but if you're looking for something to put and get your foot tapping whilst your brain wanders through work tasks or whatever else you are doing, songs like Always Left Behind, Wasted, Video, She Thinks I'm Famous, and Dynamo are up to the task.
