Sunday Morning Coffee:: Owen visits Halifax

After the disappointment of a canceled Church show earlier this year, I wondered if Owen - aka Mike Kinsella - actually wanted to come all the way to Halifax. Well, thankfully, he does and has an Alderney Landing show booked for HPX '09 on October 24th. It's no secret that I'm a big fan of every band Mike's been involved with, but it's his stripped down solo work that cuts the deepest and the chance to see him play again is one I'm looking forward to a lot.

Musically things are changing as well. He's touring in support of his new album, New Leaves and naturally, Mike lets us in on the most intimate details of his life (one that has changed considerably with the arrival of his first child) over his unique guitar lines and rapier sharp wordplay. The first single, Good Friends, Bad Habits, showcases his unmistakable sound, but the textures and bigger drums really set up a nice pocket for him to move in.
