Five Funky Stories:: Ex~Po
Next Saturday night's Dog Day show at the Seahorse is likely going to be one of this HPX's more anticipated events. Well we've already pitted Nancy from DD against the random question machine, and so we thought we'd get someone else on that evening's bill to try their luck. Enter Toronto's Ex~po.
Ex~po is the Google-flummoxing moniker of TO songwriter & producer Dean Marino's musical outlet. Dean is the co-owner of the recording studio Chemical Sound, and although running a studio must keep him plenty busy, he put this band together to start putting out his own music again. So if HPX is in your future, hit the Seahorse on the 24th to hear Dean & Co. play the well-orchestrated psychedelia from their last album Central Meaner Street, as well as some new material. Now, the questions:

1. Name a band that you wish was still putting out records
Joy Division
2. Who would you pay to see play live?
Asobi Seksu - in fact, I did pay to see them live (got the tickets in my pocket). I would also bribe Dr. Who to bring JD back . . .
3. What is the worst experience you've had on the road since you started touring?
We've only ever had good experiences while on the road. . . i hope we're not due for a bad experience!
4. If you worked as the maitre d' at a fancy restaurant, and Phil Collins came in wearing only a t-shirt, would you let him sit down?
Sure, and then I would ask him to return the favour by helping me write a hit song ... according to my Dad, he's top notch.
5. Dream show...who plays with you/for you?
Hmmm. That's a tough one. So many choices . . . Right now: Us, then The Pains of Being pure at Heart, then MBV (or M83). Oh, Grizly Bear too!
