Five Funky Stories:: Sprengjuhöllin
I'm sure you already wanted to win that pair of tickets we're giving away to tomorrow night's Mates of State show, but I've got even more reason for you to shoot us an email saying you want to win those bad boys: Sprengjuhöllin.

Not only is Sprengjuhöllin from Iceland (Iceland! Don't front, you know that kicks ass), but they have already tasted critical and commercial success on their eclectic island home. But now they are coming to show Halifax how Iceland rocks (somewhat mellowly I'd guess), and I would have to think tomorrow night at the Paragon (where Dublin's Kill Krinkle Club and St. John's natives The Subtitles will join MOS and Sprengjuhöllin) is going to be every bit as interesting as Iceland itself.
Name: Atli Bollason
Band: Sprengjuhöllin
Web: www.sprengjuhollin.is
1. Your preference: Playing a huge outdoor festival or small club in your hometown?
We once played a huge outdoor stage in The Netherlands. Apparently it was the same stage as they use at Glastonbury. Sounds pretty great but nobody was there, so it's not really about the size of the stage, is it? They say it's about the motion of the ocean.
2. What excites you about most about making music?
Meeting with executives. The softness of the leather in their offices, the comforting tone of their secretaries over the phone.
3. Can you please tell us what the hell happened to R. Kelly?
I guess he's still trapped in the closet.
4. Name a band that you wish was still putting out records
King Crimson. No, wait a minute, the actually are still putting out records. Isn't that insane?
5. What's the most unusual audience you've played for?
In the same day, we played for kids at a kindergarten and at an old people's home. That wasn't weirder than the Hollanders, though.
