Quick Hitters:: Bohemian Rap CD

It's Good Friday, aka a much-needed day off for me, so is anybody really checking the music blogs in earnest today? Likely not, but just in case I thought I'd leave a little easter egg for anyone who checks in the little crevice that holds this music blog of ours.

Well, the egg isn't actually from me per se, but from the folks behind freeicecream.net, who have been posting quality indie NYC hip hop projects, that are free for the downloading, for a couple years now. Their latest project is Bohemian Rap CD, which features site co-founder and producer Domer remixing the Queen classic, that the name plays on, into six different beats. Those beats are then laced with lyrics by Domer and four other freeicecream-affiliated MC's: Jake Lefco, illspokinn, Ryan-O'Neil and Kats.

The end-result is a fun EP that is much more enjoyable than one might expect based on it's somewhat gimmicky premise. But the beats are solid and the MC's all hold their own with ease. So don't dawdle, go treat yourself to some free ice cream this long weekend.
