What's This, A Party?:: Diamond Rings & An Horse

It's been a few weeks since our last look at remixes here on the hill, so I thought we'd better come back mighty strong for this long weekend edition. Luckily that wasn't too difficult, because today we're featuring the second remix project from Guelph synth-wreckers, Green Go. The Ack was pretty high on GG's initial foray into remixing some songs from a bunch a Canadian indie heavy hitters. I'm pretty sure that he's just as impressed with volume 2, because it's another stellar batch of songs.

And songs they are - it's really almost unfair to call them remixes because the band obviously takes so much care in re-making these songs in a way that lets their style show, but making sure the song itself doesn't get lost in the process. Take Diamond Rings' All Yr Songs which is an incredibly popular song, mainly because of its awesome video, which is awesome mainly because everyone says so. Green Go takes John O'Regan's song and almost dials it down a bit, letting what is, as I see now, a rather lovely song shine through. There's plenty of good stuff here, with Gregory Pepper and his Eddie Murphy/Rick James tribute likely being my favorite, but the better news is that you can grab yourself a copy for free right here.

I posted on Australia two-piece An Horse last year, and although their songs are catchy as hell, they aren't an obvious candidate for remixery, I wouldn't think. However, we were sent this Bodega Girls remix of Listen this past Thursday, and I rather enjoy its 80's 808's, so I thought I'd post it up. So there you have it, a couple solid remixes for your Easter weekend, enjoy.
