It’s not hard to be impressed by the hustle displayed by organizers responsible for the Long Live the Queen festival about to take over Halifax. Honestly, they are doing everything right to help a grass roots, community focused festival get the traction to stick around and grow.
Family friendly? Check. Kids under ten are free. Diverse attractions? Check. The festival has local art, yoga, music, literature and clothing on display. Affordable? Check. Most festivals jack up the rates so high that the community can’t afford to attend, but for $50 bucks you can see 6 different sets of musicians, some comedy and even enjoy a brunch or two. Oh, and a diverse and rock solid lineup of artist and compile a free collection of songs you can download for free? Check and mate.
In three days you have the chance to see Diamond Rings, Ruby Jean & the Thoughtful Bees, Ghettosocks, Wordburglar, Jenocide, Julie Fader, THE LUYAS!, Jon Mckiel, Julie Doiron!!!!, The Darcys and tons more. The lineup offers up a night of music for any fan, but somehow even with all of the different styles, the acts all come together nicely. Look, it’s hard as hell to get people to come out for even one night of rock, so the LLtQ organizers have really put themselves out there trying to give the North End art community some local shine and some attention. The least you can do is head out and support it.
But like the title of this post says, we are giving away a pass to the festival and all you have to do is email us your contact info (HEROHILL at GMAIL DOT COM) or leave the details in the comments section. If you want to tell a few friends about this, well, karma might help your name bubble up to the top of our entries pile. Enter now, as we will announce the winner Thursday.
