Old School Mondays:: Crazy Like a Foxxx Edition

What’s this, an Old School Monday, actually being posted on Monday? I know, it’s crazy stuff. A chaotic few weeks have led to me being super-disorganized on the posting tip, but hopefully I’m getting back on track.

Anyway, I was planning on doing an R.I.P. Guru OSM this week, because even though I posted something after he passed, I still figured it was an event that required a bit more said about it. However, I was still thinking about how nutty the whole story about Guru and his Confidant/Producer/Controller Solar was, and how some of the dudes that worked with Gang Starr and were still tight with DJ Premier would feel about it. Namely I wondered how Freddie Foxxx felt about the situation, considering he’s not one to pull punches, neither literal or figurative ones, I was guessing he had made his opinion known. Bumpy didn’t disappoint:

It is like that lil fat lady that was obsessed with selena(rip) he stalkd my boy and held something over his head. IT WILL COME OUT!

ONCE YOU GET THE LIFE INSURANCE MONEY YOU WILL PROBABLY MOVE OUTTA THE USA!! UK JAPAN CHINA & EVERYWHERE ELSE

IF IM WRONG PROVE ME WRONG! GURU HAS A FAMILY THAT DIDNT BEAT HIM UP & PHYSICALLY ABUSE HIM YOU BITCHMADE WHORE!

Even on the Twitterz, Freddie doesn’t play. But the bottom line here remains we lost a hip hop legend and there was a weird saga-like ending to his life that made it even sadder then it would have been anyway. So then, let’s numb our pain, or rather, punch our pain in its bitchmade face with some Freddie Foxxx songs. We’ve got the old-school sounding one I’m Ready from his debut Freddie Foxxx is Here, and two cameo-laced efforts from his long-delayed second album Crazy Like a Foxxx: So Tough f. Queen Latifah and Step f. Chuck D. Also, because the Ack requested it, we have Ruff Ruff which is on BDP’s Sex & Violence LP, and fratures a Freddie Foxxx cameo.

And finally, as a final word on this subject, one of my favourite Gang Starr songs ever: The Militia which features one of my favourite verses ever from Bumpy Knuckles. Enjoy and R.I.P. Keith Elam.
