Good news friends, our show listings page is back. For a while there, it was a casualty of our WordPress migration, but it’s back, and better than ever. Well, at the very least, it’s back. You can access it through the handy menu up there if you ever have a hankering to find out what stellar shows are on the horizon here in Halifax. And if you ever have an event you think we should post, just drop us a line and we’ll try and get it up for you.
It’s a good time to be talking about Halifax shows, because there’s plenty of action about to kick-off here this very month. In a couple short weeks, we’ll see the debut of Long Live The Queen, a Music and Arts Festival taking place in Halifax’s North End from May 21st to the 23rd. It’s boasting shows from folks like Diamond Rings, Cursed Arrows, Julie Fader, Julie Doiron, The Darcys, Wordburglar, The Luyas as well as local hill faves like Ghettosocks, Jon Mckiel and The Lodge, so I suggest you check the sched to see what else the Queen has on tap for you.
I know that sounds good, but it’s not the only Festival-type event taking place in Halifax this month, as the fine folks of Divorce Records host the fourth Obey Convention the very next weekend (May 17th-30th). They’re boasting a lineup with folks like U.S. Girls, Pierre Bastien, Slim Twig, Paul Metzger, Amen Dunes, Homostupids, Dirty Beaches, Dog Day, Holy Cobra, as well as locals like The Cold Warps, Fuck Montreal, Duzheknew, and Charles Blazevic. That’s another jam-packed event with plenty of options, so go check it out.
