I honestly don’t care if you don’t like Kestrels or not. I do, and I’m going to keep on posting each and every song they send over. The Truro based power trio led by all-around nice guy and primary song writer Chad Peck wear their 90′s influences on their sleeves. J Mascis, delightful nods to Blue album Weezer (seriously, one of the new 7″ tracks will have you looking through the garage for a VHS tape with that Spike Jonze vid on it – or youtube for the youngsters reading this) and even the pop sensibility we all loved about Sloan‘s earliest, roughest output.
August 10th will find the band releasing a four song 7″ (or a 5-song download for those not into acetate), and from the rough mixes I’ve heard, it’s going to be something fantastic. To help you get excited, here’s the title track – “The Light” – for you to download. Like everything the band touches, it’s noisy, fuzz laden huge guitar riffs, well placed solos, sing-along choruses and most importantly, it’s summer encapsulated in 3-minutes.
Enjoy.
