We’ve posted on the Montreal-based Yellow Bird Project before, in fact they were kind enough to run a contest with us before for a free shirt. But here’s their deal again in a nutshell: they ask fairly popular indie artists to design a t-shirt, then YBP creates said shirt and sells it on their site, giving the proceeds from each and every sale to a charity of the artists’ choice. It’s a win-win situation for all involved, and I’m always happy to spread the word on their latest project, and it seems they’ve got a new shirt available, from Beach House.
Now quite honestly, I don’t know much about Beach House other than they are a two-piece from Baltimore that play a rather dreamy brand of the indie pop that the kids enjoy. I also know that the Ack posted a Little Girls/Beach House cover that I enjoyed earlier this year, so they must be on the up and up. So if you’re into Beach House, you can get yourself a sweet t-shirt while at the same time donating some cash to help the House of Ruth, which is a non-profit org that helps women that are victims of domestic abuse. Seems like a good idea to me.
Even if Beach House isn’t your thing, I’d suggest you check out the YBP website, as they have shirts done by a wide range of folk (Andrew Bird, TV On The Radio, New Pornographers, Metric, The National, Grizzly Bear, The Dears, Wolf Parade…even a colouring book!) and you could likely find something you like.
