D-Sisive - No Words

It’s the death of D-Sisive! If there’s one thing this blog lacks, it’s some forced drama, so I’ll take any chance to post a spicy headline, especially if it pertains to someone we’ve posted on regularly here at the hill. In this case, it’s T.O. rapper D-Sisive, who has made the decision to retire his nom-de-guerre, and go with the rap-spelling- free Derek From Northcliffe. Makes sense, D-Sisive was chosen at 17, and Derek somewhat understandably feels like he’s outgrown it. It’s like Lil’ Bow Wow dropping the “Lil’” and just being plain Bow Wow - we might not like it, but we’ve got to roll with the punches and embrace the change.

To help those of you in Toronto embrace the change, D is having a “funeral” for his second album on Nov. 27th at the Horseshoe. He’s promising tuxedos and a live band, so it sounds like quite the affair. For the rest of us, there is the recently released digital 12″ No More Words w/ If…, two new Muneshine produced songs from Jonestown 2: Jimmy Go Bye Bye, which will be available at the end of the month. No More Words is a solemn, pop-culture filled, marching band sounding goodbye, whereas If… takes a look at how elusive success is if you’re a Canadian MC without big names attached to your project.

Sad but true I’m afraid, but we do what we can over here at the hill to try and flash our tiny bit of cyber-shine on those in Canada who’ve poured their soul into hip hop for little return. That includes D-Sisive, who we’ve been big-upping whenever possible since The Book came in the mail, and we’ll do the same with Derek From Northcliffe. And now, we say goodbye to D-Sisive in the most fitting way we can think of, with a video of him doing Ice Ice Baby. Au revoir, mon ami…

DOPE TRACKS
IF brilliantly sums up the Canadian music scene.
It’s tough, but it’s only a matter of time!

THe band he’s playing with is K.C. Roberts & the Live Revolution , Toronto funk titans, 9 strong, with no hyperbole: the Best Funk Band in the whole big funky town. They have a gig at the El Mocambo on Friday the 26th and the pre-expired D will be there to preview some of the vibe of Funkhop. Major brill crossover in effect.
