Last year we did a few of these “Christmas Party” posts to get some of the Xmas songs from Canadian artists sent to us posted up on the site. I was thinking about doing the same this year, but realized we hadn’t been sent many Xmas songs at all this year compared to last. I have no science behind this, but if it is true, I likely know why: everyone in Canada has been sending their songs to Ro Cemm at The Line Of Best Fit for his second annual Ho! Ho! Ho! Canada Christmas tunes compilation.
Honestly, when you look at the yeoman work Mr. Cemm has done covering Canadian music over the last couple years, you’d have to swear he was as Canadian as Lanny McDonald’s moustache, but having met him at this October’s HPX, I can confirm he is indeed the possessor of a distinguished-sounding British accent. Anyhoo, the double album-length compilation he’s put together this year is rather excellent, with a number of exclusive songs from artists representing pretty much every region of this big-ass country of ours. So once again I’ll encourage you to go snag it.
To get the festive vibes flowing, we’ll leave you with a few songs featured on the compilation – the first one we posted a couple weeks ago on the hill, Xmas In The Jailhouse from Ox, off of their recently released xmas album. Next, we’ll go with one of Ro’s exclusives from a band I enjoy, Mall Santa from By Divine Right, and we’ll finish with a song from the compilation that we posted last year, In-Flight’s Safety’s cover of Fairytale of New York. It’s starting to feel more like a Canadian Christmas up in here, thanks to Ro and TLOBF!
