Quick Hitters::: White Pines

The stellar debut from Joseph Scott - aka White Pines - is a record that was only released in November, but earned a surprising amount of plays over the last few weeks. The weariness and loneliness of Scott’s songs seems to have grown from seedlings planted deep in the midwest soil, absorbing the region’s heart and soul as they grew, but the collages of electronics and triumphant surges give The Falls an optimism, an almost defiant sense of hope no matter how bad things get or far from home he feels.

Yerbird Records is giving away the beautiful “Woods” as a free download and really, the way the gentle picked riff and Scott’s layered vocals slowly surge with confidence and he adds a swirling collage of texture is a perfect example of why Joseph Scott’s songs make such an impact.
