As per usual, the Ack and I will be nowhere near Austin, Texas next month when the famous South x Southwest music festival takes place. We’ll be here in Halifax cursing the never-ending winter and griping about all the SXSW emails that will continually remind us that we’re missing a lot of tacos, beer & BBQ. Oh, and music.
But, with the news that our favorite festival will be hosting a showcase at SXSW, we thought at least one post on the festival couldn’t hurt. Obviously this is that post, and it is aimed at those of you who are actually attending SXSW (aka the jerks who will be tweeting about the tacos and the BBQ every 10 minutes. Jerks). The Halifax Pop Explosion show takes place on March 19 at Paradise Cafe (401 East 6th Street), with a kickoff time of 8PM. There’s a great lineup on tap, mostly from our little part of the world, including Rich Aucoin, In-Flight Safety, The Golden Dogs (HPX alumni, honorary East-Coasters I’m sure), Duzheknew, Cousins, & Carmen Townsend. So go see the show and tell ‘em herohill sent ya – you’ll either get a blank stare or a “huh, those guys” in return, but it sounds like something fun to say!
Who knows, if you like what you see, perhaps you’ll come to Halifax in the fall (Oct. 18th-22nd) for the 2011 festivus. It’s usually an excellent time and we promise we’ll buy you a donair (the taco of HPX). Anyhoo, those of us in Halifax not heading to Austin will have to be content with the SXSW send off show tonight at the Seahorse with Dog Day, Duzheknew, Cousins, and Special Noise. Who knows, maybe they’ll have tacos there.
