Everyone should have theme music. I have no idea how this would come about, but just imagine how infinitely more awesome everyday tasks would be if you had your own customized music blaring while you did them? It would be like when Raul Mondesi played for the Blue Jays and had his own signature salsa jam blasting when he came to the plate “Hey! Hey! Raul Mon-de-si!!!!!!”.
Well you can now consider us the Raul Mondesi of the CBC Radio 3 Searchlight 2011 contest, because thanks to the extremely kind and talented Daniel Ledwell, we’re now able to bring you, The Herohill Theme. Behold:
Honestly, if that combo of delightful harmonies and heavenly horns on that soon-to-be-classic doesn’t get your voting finger itching to cast a vote for us, I don’t know what will. You might know Dan from his work in any number of musical projects, such as being a member of In-Flight Safety, a producer (Jenn Grant’s latest Honeymoon Punch for example), as a touring musician playing with folks like Jim Bryson and The Weakerthans, or for his own solo work. Well now you also know him as the composer of easily the best Searchlight 2011-related song you’ve ever heard, so huge thanks to Dan for donating his time & talent to the cause. But don’t let Dan’s effort go to waste people, do the deed.
Want another reason to vote for us? How about this, we’re busy trying to improve our site, for you. We want to bring you even more Canadian music on a regular basis, but we’re but a simple two man shop here at the hill (ahem, two guys, 3000+ posts, we’re exhausted, vote for us…please). So we’re getting creative: look over on the right hand side and you’ll see some Tumblr-style mini posts with songs from Hey Rosetta! and Muneshine up there currently. We’ll be updating those on the regular with new songs & videos, so you’ll get more music and less of our rambling. Duh, winning! We’ve got even more in mind for the hill in the near future, so keep on coming back, and, if you wouldn’t mind, maybe tell your friends about us. Play us outta here Dan!
