We missed the Video Hits last week, and as a result we’re bursting at the seams with video goodness. Specifically, we have a bunch of vids from what the majority of Canadians not from the Atlantic region refer to as “Eastern Canada”: Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto. So let’s do it.
One of my favorite songs from the last couple months is A. Is For Animal by Montreal band Honheehonhee. So it’s exciting news to hear that the band has a full length on the way this summer (Shouts), and a new video out now for the album’s lead track We Only Go. The video features a group of folks playing tackle Ultimate in their skivvies, on a snow covered field. Sounds like a nutty premise at first, but upon reflection, I just might strip down to my drawers for a chance to Chuck Cecil some of the dudes I’ve seen playing Ultimate. Anyway, great song, fun video, that’s a win-win right there.

It doesn’t take much to figure out that Montreal’s Dirty Beaches isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but guess what, we’re eager subscribers to Alex Zhang Hungtai’s lo-fi sound collage-filled newsletter, and so if he’s got a new video, like this one for Lord Only Knows, it gets a posting.

If you don’t have yourself a copy of WWII from Ottawa’s White Wires, that’s a situation you should remedy ASAP. I love the record myself, but you can take the Ack’s word for it too, their brand of power-poppy punk is irresistible. Like this Irish pub-shot video for Let’s Go To The Beach, with some genteel Irish gents standing in for the band.

Toronto’s Times Neue Roman have a rather interesting sound, combining the forces of poet/MC Arowbe and producer Alexander The, it’s a rather artistic brand of hip hop that they’ve classified “rap deco”. That said, it’s no surprise then that their new video for Hands No Hands is a rather striking visual experience.

As a bonus/finale, how about some party karaoke with Kingston’s PS I Love You? Looks like a good time to me.
