Today’s edition of the Video Hits was intended to be back to the regular three video format, but due to a bit of news from Vancouver’s You Say Party, we’re back up to four videos. We’re leading off with YSP’s Lynch-esque video for “Laura Palmer’s Prom” after hearing the sad news that the band has announced the “immediate cease to activity as YSP“. It’s understandable really, as the band has had, in their words, a “hard year”, and so we wish them the best in the future and hopefully we’ll see them return to making music in some form or another.
On the other end of the band evolution spectrum, we have Toronto’s Bravestation, who are really just getting things started, despite having a couple of well-received EP’s under their belts. But they also have a new video with gratuitous, semi-spooky forest shots, as their new clip for the excellent “White Wolves” features a young lady Chariots of Firing-ing her way through the autumn foliage.
The animated video for Jon and Roy’s “Get Myself a Gun” is forest-free, but the Ack’s post on Jon’s (Jon Middleton of Jon and Roy) new solo record reminded me that the makers of this video (Vancouver’s BLATANT) had sent it our way a while ago, and I’ve been meaning to post it. It’s a charming video for a lovely song, and so I’m happy to finally get it posted.
We’ll finish with another lovely song, this one from Montreal’s James Irwin (formerly of My People Sleeping). The Ack posted “Blue Dust” on the hill a little while ago, but since there’s now a video (which yes, also features some forest footage), we wanted to get that posted as well. Enjoy the videos.
