Ok, so the Halifax Pop Explosion has the fall festival scene on lock here in Halifax, and those same folks are premiering MFest this August, but what if you want to hit a festival this month? Well if you’ve got a festival jones in your wet creaky bones, then you’ll want to be in North End Halifax next weekend (May 19th-22nd) for the Long Live The Queen festival.
Now in its 2nd year (I believe it began last year, but I could be wrong), LLTQ is a “music and arts festival curated by musicians for their community” that has grown exponentially to include wide array of musical genres (“hip-hop, folk, punk, metal, electro, motown and doo wop”) and featuring many, many amazing musicians from Halifax, Toronto, Montreal and other locales. Seriously, have a look at the schedule, and you’ll have to come away impressed at the mix of local & away talent the organizers have assembled. And they are trying some new things too, with their own version of the Round Robin series as presented by Dan Deacon, with their own version of a Round Robin show taking place on Friday the 20th with Silly Kissers/Doldrums/Mayor McCa/Crosss/Cursed Arrows.
Thanks to the good folks at LLTQ, we have two sets of tickets to giveaway, one set for the aforementioned Round Robin show, and one set for the Bahamas/Heavy Blinkers/Cousins/Rebekah Higgs/Husband & Knife affair taking place on Sunday May 22nd. We’ll be drawing the winners early next week, so don’t wait! To enter, just leave your email in the comments section below or send it to herohill [AT] gmail DOT COM.
