Quick Hitters:: Richard Lann - All The Time You Left Behind

Where does the time go? I had the feeling that I posted on Richard Lann’s last EP not too long ago (when he was going by Thomas/Richard), but it seems that “not too long ago” was actually 2009, and Lann has actually released three new EP’s since then, including his newest All The Time You Left Behind.

Granted, these EP’s are rather brief affairs, with each ranging from two to five songs and not a song over three minutes to be found anywhere, but that’s still three EP’s since last I checked in with him. I can tell you that despite the name change, Richard Lann is still making some damn likable music, and I’m still wishing he’d expand his songs & albums to give us a bigger taste. I’m not complaining though, if you’re going to give me the kind of acoustic & trumpet goodness of All The Time You Left Behind’s opener “Bug”, I’ll take it how I can get it. The rest of the EP follows suit, with strum-filled sing-alongs like “Rope Bridge Picnic” and “Just A Feeling”, which feature vocal assistance from a few of Lann’s friends.

There’s a quality to Lann’s songs that make them very warm and attractive - perhaps it’s his delivery, that warbles in a way that seems to reveal some level of sadness, even on upbeat songs. Anyway, all of the EP’s on Richard’s Bandcamp site are brief little audible treats, and available gratis, so go help yourself to some why don’t you?
