Video Hits:: Reversing Falls, Jeremy Glenn, Slim Twig
Ok, it’s Thursday and we’re back on our regular Video Hits grind (a lot of people on the internet describe their internetting with various uses of “grind”, so I thought I’d try it - not a successful trial I don’t think) with our usual eclectic selection of Canadian clips.
We posted “Doom Beach” from MTL’s Reversing Falls early this year, and I’m a fan of the song, so I was happy to put their new video for it up. And what a video it is. There’s a lot going on in that 2.5 minutes, and the description of the video that came with the email for it likely describes it much better than I could: “A digital nightmare with nods to Cronenberg and Jodorowsky, the clip makes it way through cerebral distortions, performance shots, and a pretty decent kickflip.” That description = a good video in my book, perhaps you’ll agree after viewing it.
I knew Jeremy Glenn’s name rang a bell for some hill-related reason, but I couldn’t place it until a search revealed that I’d posted a remix he’d done for T.O. production duo Circle Research. Well his smoothed-out, 80′s R&B & electro single “New Life” is worlds away from that remix, and the video is decades away from it, featuring some 80′s sideboob and spandex aplenty. I actually enjoy the song a great deal, but I’d have posted it regardless to give me the opportunity to write that last sentence. While there are some lovely ladies in Slim Twig’s self-directed video for Priscilla, there’s no sideboob (that I could spot!), but that’s ok. No one does endearing musical weirdness like Slim does and although I’m not sure I’d be into other folks doing what he does, he usually elicits a smile from moi.
As a bonus, I’m re-posting the video for “Love Sit Down” from Guelph’s INTERSTLLR. I posted it on Saturday, but it’s a cool video from a really nice introductory EP, so I’m putting it up again. Also, sideboob. Enjoy!
