Man, this whole posting on every HPX ’11 act business was likely an over-ambitious, but well-meaning, project. But we’re not giving up, and in fact we’ve made it to the C’s already! Plenty of great stuff has gone up so far, but we’re plowing ahead with Canadian pop-punk heroes CHIXDIGGIT! who commemorated their 20 years of tomfoolery earlier this year with the release of Safeways Here We Come, their first new work in some five years.
By rights, the Ack should have done this post, as he’s the resident pop-punk expert at the hill, having listened to a crap-ton of it in his butterheaded youth. No doubt that included plenty of CHIXDIGGIT! (note from Acker: Yes. Yes it did. The split EP with The Ghoulies is one of my fav records back in the day), but since I’m the sap doing this HPX post-a-thon, it’s up to me. But I don’t mind, as uptempo, riff-tastic jams about hating someone’s new dog, loving a certain style of Swedish haircut, and hating basketball (which I certainly don’t, but you know, it’s a fun jam) are likely more in my wheelhouse right now than Ack’s. So, if you’ve been into CHIXDIGGIT! at any point since they came on the scene in the 90′s, you’ll likely enjoy what you find on Safeways Here We Come.
That said, even if you’re a newbie and you just really enjoy punk rawk guitar splits of the highest order or pogo-ing/careening into your fellow concert-goers like a lunatic throughout a show, you’d be wise to check out either their headlining set at Reflections on Friday, Oct 21st, or you can join the all-ages mayhem at the Pavillion the next day as they’ll be hitting the stage at 5:30 before Fucked Up makes everything go kaboom.
