Bah, Monday. Nobody likes you my week-starting friend, nobody. In fact, everyone wishes today was Saturday, specifically, they wish today was Saturday, Oct. 22nd, because if it were we’d all be getting ready for a free Stars show at the Grand Parade courtesy of the 2011 Halifax Pop Explosion. The show kicks off at 3PM, and also features fellow Montrealers (and a couple Halifax ex-pats) Plants and Animals, Caper powerhouse Carmen Townsend, and Toronto’s Papermaps.
And yes, I said free, so there’s not much reason to miss out on this show. After all, it’s not every Saturday afternoon that you can wander downtown and check out a show with an act the Caliber of Stars, not too mention Plants and Animals, who’ve always been a hill favorite. Papermaps, from what I’ve heard of them at least, sound like a quality outfit as well, and I have no doubt Carmen Townsend will do the home-province crowd proud (if you ask nicely, maybe she’ll do her Sabotage cover). Plus, the 3PM start means you’ll still have time to catch plenty of HPX action on the last night of the fest, so it’s win-win really.
