HPX ’11:: Something Good - Quick Hands

The HPX ’11 posting series rolls on, and although this edition of the festival does seem a little lighter on the hip hop than in the past, that doesn’t mean there aren’t shows out there for the hip hop enthusiasts in attendance this year. Take Thursday, Oct. 20th at The Khyber, for example. At that show alone, you can see a couple of local hill-approved hip hop acts in the form of opener Ambition and the live band goodness of Something Good. I’ve already posted a song from Ambeez (as his friends, and loose Internet accquintances call him), but the guys from Something Good just released a new song the other day, so check it below for a new taste of what they’re about.

Those two will be joined on the bill by Toronto’s Tiny Danza, another live band hip hop act, that may struggle to live up to the splendour of their name, but they do have a song called Bossa (Who’s The), which is a step in the right direction (Ay-oh! Oh-Ay!). Also playing the Khyber that night are Kou Chou Ching a Taiwanese hip hop group that “bring samples of Taiwanese folk songs and traditional music elements and mix them in HipHop to create a very unique sound.” Not something you’d see every night out here in Halifax, so get out and see this show, Chuckles.
