This is a rough one. Hearing today that Heavy D passed away hit home, and the only thing I can compare it to is Guru’s passing. I’ve done a number of these R.I.P. OSM posts for various people related to hip hop, but when it’s a central figure from a period in hip hop that’s near and dear to your heart, it makes a mark. And when it’s a guy like the Heavster, who was pretty much universally loved, it’s that much more painful.
I actually had another OSM lined up to post tonight, but after hearing about Heavy D’s death I just wanted to get something posted. I’ll get something more extensive up on Monday, but for now, let’s send some thoughts out to to Heav’s family and friends, and remember him through the music he left behind.
R.I.P. Heavy D.
