Alright, Fredericton. You and I haven’t seen eye to eye much in the past, but I’m willing to forgive and forget what with you playing host to the 2nd edition of the Shivering Songs festival. Like most fantastic festivals, Shivering Songs isn’t about Redbull tents, corporate sponsors and buzz bands that will be lucky to be working at the festival in a few years. No, Shivering Songs is about giving fans of great music and under appreciated artists a chance to bask in the sun.
This weekend – Feb. 3rd – Feb. 5th – Fredericton opens its heart to artists like Hot Toddy, Mark “effing” Kozelek, Postdata, The Olympic Symphonium, Snailhouse, Andrew Sisk, David Myles, Mike O’Neill (whose new record is one of the best slices of mature, career spanning pop you will hear this year) and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Honestly, it’s worth buying a pass just to see Mark mesmerize you with his dancing fingers and subdued but powerful voice, but you won’t find a low water mark on this lineup.
You can see the complete schedule here, but do yourself a service and just grab a pass and soak in as much music as you can. Here are a couple of songs to whet your appetite. Enjoy!
