I’m sure we’ve said something to this effect before about Toronto-via-Halifax duo Southern Shores, but if you’re looking for a escapist listening experience, it’s hard to top these guys. Crank up a track like Marazul on a bland November day and suddenly you envision yourself cranking out your TPS Reports from the edge of a pristine, white-sand beach or from the depths of a vibrant rain forest.
The Ack captured this sentiment in his post on their latest EP, New World, but listening to the EP again today brought that home to me again. So did watching the new video for Marazul, which portrays modern man as kind of a tamed beast, having to curtail his hunter-gatherer instincts to cope with what day-to-day life has become.
So watch the video, listen to some Southern Shores and set yourself free.
