Two years ago, Wildlife exploded with an EP and uncontrollable as reckless as a hitchhiking hatchet man. They sung of the water, not as a retreat but as an awakening. Strike Hard, Young Diamond was a rebirth.
… On the Heart is more polished and mature, but “Dangerous Times” is no less triumphant or bold. We are still at the water, but now mortality and the past haunt thoughts. More restless than reckless; time flies forward and dreams become little more than distant memories, but god damn this melody and chorus make you think you can punch through walls.
Wildlife! isn’t just burying a time capsule, they’re covering it in cement. Dangerous Times forces us to look forward if only because we’re terrified to look back to see what’s chasing us.
