Ah, the weekend. A time to get drunk and make mistakes. Dangerband, a snotty power pop explosion from Toronto, is here to soundtrack that experience for you.
On the surface, “Stupid Boyfriend”, sounds like a juvenille response; a Ducky-worthy plea sung over top of a chugging guitar riff, banged out keys and sing/shout backing vocals. It’s a mason jar full of shit mix you drink through a straw, before telling asking anyone that will listen why girls don’t like you. It’s adolscence, summed up in 3:21.
The thing that makes Dangerband really smoke is self-awareness. They’re able to deliver nostalgic wallowing without any hint of desperation or self-pity. They may not be serious, but this ain’t no joke.
