Pretty well says it all, right? Jonas Bonnetta is one of my favorite song writers. Period. No qualifiers or disclaimers. His latest record - a breathtaking tribute to the life and passing of his father - is a record that’s provided me with great comfort and inspiration over the last year.
Truthfully, between he and Jim Guthrie, I haven’t needed any other musician to soundtrack the ebbs and flows life has dealt me.
So, Jonas and his band - better know as Evening Hymns - are playing at the Drake this Thursday. Rumor has it that new songs will be played, which is exciting, but the classics are classics for a reason. Come. Sing. Smile. Live.
Andy Shauf is no slouch either. His last record, The Bearer of Bad News, was a mature collection of songs, dressed elegantly and tastefully. The thing is, whenever I’ve heard Andy play stripped down and solo, the end results are gripping.
Basically, this night will be just what your fractured, heavy heart needs, and your joyful spirit searches for. Don’t miss it.
Thanks to our good friend from Jon Bartlett, we have two tickets to the show for you. It’s this Thursday, so we will draw winners on Wednesday. All you need to do is email us - herohill AT gmail DOT COM - or RT this post on the ole twitterz.
