(message) Hi, just a quick question, has a Greek ever one a Nobel Prize? The reason I ask is that I feel that my cousin Niko can be a candidate, but first off, what are the credentials? How does one get noticed?
Thanks,
Mario
P.S. Great Site!!

(reply) Dear Mario,
The following Greeks have won the Nobel Prize;
1963, Literature, Giorgos Seferis
1979, Literature, Odysseus Elytis
To be considered for a Nobel Prize you have to be nominated by a person who has the right to make nominations. Every year thousands of persons are invited to make nominations, and they have to do so before February 1, the same year the prize is going to be awarded. You will find more information about the nomination procedure under each prize category on our website, www.nobelprize.org.
Best regards
